Originally launched in 1998, Glover was a joint venture with Hasbro Interactive for the Nintendo 64 and PlayStation, under the Atari Interactive label. Fast forward to 2025, Glover gets a refreshing chance at stardom on the Nintendo Switch through the QUByte Classic series. The creators, the Oliver Twins, initially established Interactive Studios—formerly Dizzy Entertainment and ultimately Blitz Games—in 1990. Most folks might recognize the Oliver Twins from their work on the beloved Dizzy series. In Glover, you’ll guide the protagonist, Glover, through a series of innovative 3D puzzle-platform levels. Your mission? Navigate each stage, skillfully maneuvering your ball from start to finish.
Glover’s narrative centers around a magical mishap in the kingdom. The wizard’s failed potion attempts cause an explosion, sending vital power crystals flying, alongside Glover. To save the crystals, Glover ingeniously transforms them into rubber balls, preventing disaster. However, this accident also leads to the corruption of Glovel, Glover’s counterpart, which becomes the sinister Cross-Stitch.
Throughout your adventure, you journey across six diverse worlds—Atlantis, Carnival, Pirates, Prehistoric, Fortress of Fear, and Out of This World—in your quest to reclaim the scattered crystals. Each world houses unique levels, plenty of collectibles called Garibs, and bonus stages that beckon completionists looking for a full experience.
Playing as Glover is an intuitive and enjoyable affair. Move the titular hand with the left stick and adjust your perspective with the right. The X button helps you zoom, while the A button propels you over obstacles with jumps and double jumps. Dribble with B, and when challenges heat up, perform a ground pound with ZR. Balancing on your ball? That’s achieved with the L button. Mastery of the game involves using various ball forms at your disposal, starting predominately with the versatile rubber ball. As you progress, discover more types designed to aid your adventure, each with unique characteristics that will probably keep you entertained and challenged.
