Oh man, so the Dune Awakening beta is live. Finally! Thousands of people rushing into this Funcom open world survival MMO thing. And yeah, they’re calling it “fresh-faced” players… which sounds kinda weird if you ask me. Anyway, this beta is going down over the weekend, and it covers the first two big zones. Just the starter stuff, but hey, it’s something, right? No idea why they stuck with those particular zones, but it stuck with me.
So, backtrack a bit. They announced this beta after they pushed the release date to June 10. And it was supposed to come out by May 15 or something. Delays, man, but this beta feels like a little make-up gift, I guess? Last chance for a free sneak peek, unless they throw some more out there later.
There was this weird cookie message in there too. Tech stuff always baffles me. “To see this content please enable targeting cookies.” I mean, seriously, why are cookies everywhere now? Not the tasty kind, sadly.
Okay, where was I? Right, the game! This is literally first contact for most of us. We did this preview thingy a while back. It was overall positive? Yeah, that’s what they said. But there are still mystery vibes about what the game’s gonna look like later on. End-game or whatever. They’ve talked about it, but no grand reveal yet. I guess they love keeping us in suspense.
