Okay, so here goes nothing—I’m trying to walk you through Borderlands 4 as if we’re sitting on a couch together. Not fancy or polished, just… well, me rambling.
First off—where did I put that coffee? Anyway, 2K and Gearbox decided to bless us with some new footage. Extended gameplay for Borderlands 4, and get this: headed to Nintendo Switch 2. Seriously, finally something solid for the Switch fans, right? Coming later this year, apparently. Fingers crossed.
So we’ve got our first peek at a couple of these new Vault Hunters. Vex the Siren—I mean, what a name, right? She’s out here working magic or something, fighting side by side with these creepy ghost buddies she summons. Then there’s Rafa, ex-soldier with this crazy exo-suit. Sounds intense? Yeah, I’d say so. These guys introduce new playstyles, and the skill tree system—or whatever they’re calling it now—is supposedly the most advanced. They say that every time, don’t they? Anyway—wait, what was I saying?
Oh yeah, the game’s set on a planet called Kairos. I’m visualizing deserts? Maybe not. Apparently, this Timekeeper dude’s been ruling forever. Or at least, a really long time. Controlling folks with something called Bolts. Makes me think of some dystopian cyborg nightmare. And there’s an army. There’s always an army. The twist? Friends along the way can join your merry band. Or whatever you’d call a group of gun-toting adventurers. Fun, I suppose—until the bullets start flying.
In the footage—shown during PlayStation’s State of Play, if you’re keeping track—Vex and Rafa charge through this blacksite. Terminus Range sounds cold, right? Pretty sure I lost feeling in my toes just thinking about it. Anyway, it’s all about explosions and chaos, your usual Borderlands fare.
And the gear—oh the gear. Eight manufacturers, each with their own twist on things. It’s like DIY but with more firepower. This Licensed Parts system, I mean, does it let you Frankenstein together weapons? Sure sounds like it. I may or may not want this IRL. Enhancements gear slot is a thing, too, because more is always more, right? Grenades and heavy weapons falling back into style. Recharges via cooldowns, so don’t blow it all in one go. Or do. Your choice.
Oh, and on a random note, release is set for 2025. Talk about waiting, jeez.
Then there’s this—hmm, what was the YouTube bit about? Suppose it involved some flashy visuals. Eh, half thoughts. Anyway, Borderlands 4’s out there, folks. Eventually, I mean. Just hold onto your patience and maybe a shield or two.
