God bless Yuji Horii for being, well, not the best secret-keeper. Seriously.
So, get this, during a comic con in Napoli, Italy—why Italy, you ask? No idea, but sounds fun—Horii, who’s like THE guy behind the Dragon Quest series, kinda let it slip. Yeah, at this panel, he’s chatting about stuff and then, boom, he mentions a Chrono Trigger remake. I mean, did he mean to say it? Maybe not. Maybe? Anyway, chaos ensues. The host’s face was probably a sight—bet they thought, did he just say that? And Horii? Classic move, covers his mouth while the translator’s like, “Nope, you heard nothing.” Seriously, I chuckled just imagining it.
And it’s not Horii’s first rodeo with the leaks. Back in July 2015, dude was a fountain of news. Drops confirmations for Dragon Quest VII and VIII coming to the West. And guess what? At the time, VII was like two years old in Japan. So yeah, bit of a delay, huh? Oh, and not to forget, he spilled about Dragon Quest XI being on the “NX”—which, by the way, was the old name for the Nintendo Switch before we even saw it. Wild, right?
Anyway, March 11 rolls around, marking Chrono Trigger’s big 3-0 in Japan. Square Enix teased us with more celebration deets coming, but left us hanging without specifics. Classic move, folks. Like, tell us more already!
