You know that feeling when you’ve got a weekend coming up, and you’re thinking, “Alright, maybe play some games, unwind”? Yeah, me too. And just when I thought I’d surf the PlayStation Store—bam! A sale slaps me in the face with indie games all at crazy-low prices. I mean, who doesn’t love a good discount? They’re calling it the PlayStation Indies sale, and, honestly, it’s like they’re giving games away.
Right, so there’s this game called Outlast. Ever heard of it? If not, you’re missing out. It’s only five bucks right now. Five bucks! That’s, like, 75% off. Normally, it’s twenty bucks, but who cares about math? It’s cheap. But you gotta hurry because, I don’t know, the deal ends… like May 29 at 2 in the morning or something. So, set an alarm, maybe.
Anyway! Here’s the gist: You’re in Colorado—well, not you, but the game’s set there. And there’s this asylum. Classic horror, right? It’s called Mount Massive Asylum. Massive, like, why do these places always have creepy names? This place was shut down but then opened by some mysterious corporation. Sounds suspicious? Yep, totally is. Our hero, a journalist named Miles (classic name), sneaks in ’cause he heard some juicy gossip.
Inside, it’s all screams and whispers. The game blurs the line between science and religion, nature and—well, things that probably haunt your dreams. If Miles wants to make it out alive, he needs to unravel this mystery. Or, you know, players do. Go figure.
Now, if you dig Outlast and fancy a bit more terror, there’s the DLC called Whistleblower. It sort of backtracks the story but also wraps it up nicely. Not on sale though, but still under nine bucks. So, do the math (ugh, more math), like $13.98 for both. Not too shabby, right?
By the way, back when Outlast hit the scene in 2013, critics loved it. Got an 80 on Metacritic, if that means anything to you. So, yeah, maybe check it out if you’re into scares. Or just want something to keep you up at night. Whatever floats your boat.
