Sure thing, let me just dive into the messiness here. So, there’s this gang over at nDreams, right? They’ve been doing VR stuff for ages and now, they’re cooking up something pretty wild with their new studio, nDreams Elevation. Let me tell you about this — it’s called Reach, and they’re saying it’s gonna be super immersive. Well, they should know, right?
Anyway, they just had this VR Developer Direct thingy where they spilled some beans about how Reach is turning out. It’s all parkour and combat with more VR movement than you can shake a controller at. Sounds ambitious, but hey, I’m intrigued.
Matt Duff, a design director or some such, talked about the pillars of this game or something. Action, adventure, and presence. It’s all about presence, man. Like, I guess they’re doing something new with movement? You’re actually reaching and pulling yourself through the game. Wild, right?
And jumping, which usually makes me dizzy in VR. But apparently, it’s got some mind-tricking stuff — like gestures that make you feel like you’re jumping. I have no idea if that’s black magic or what, but it sounds cool.
Now, this part’s kinda neat. They’ve put in something they call Full-body Awareness. No more creepy floating hands! Your whole body does stuff in the game. Which, honestly, should be less weird than those disembodied hands waving around.
Combat’s got some spice too. Duff says there’s a mix of high action and stealth. I gotta say, having options is great. There’s a bow, with arrows that do different things. Explode, freeze, or stun — you name it. And stealth kills? Yeah, those are in too. Makes me want to try sneaking around for a change.
So, when’s this bad boy coming out? Later this year, it seems. You can wishlist it if that’s your jam. It’ll be on pretty much all the big VR headsets. Until then, stay curious, I guess.
