So, there’s this big hoo-ha going down in Monster Hunter Wilds—Free Title Update 2 or whatever they’re calling it. Dropping June 30! (Mark the date, or don’t, I’m not your life coach). They’ve got a trailer, and honestly, you kind of have to see it to believe it. Or not. I mean, trailers are weirdly hypnotic sometimes, like those lava lamp things. Why do I love watching them so much?
Anyway, the game’s shaking things up big time. The Leviathan, Lagiacrus—such a mouthful, right?—is making waves, literally. This thing’s a sea boss. Top-tier marine predator, boiling water like it’s a kettle or something. You gotta be rank 31 or above to take on this bad boy after a certain mission. Fun stuff.
Now here’s the kicker. You mostly fight it on land, which seems totally counterintuitive, right? But then there’s this underwater portion too. Your weapons? Yeah, they sort of don’t work like they should underwater. Fair warning.
And don’t get me started on that Seregios flying in all gold and shiny. It’s no joke. This thing pelts you with bladescales. Bladescales! I mean, who thought that up? If you take it on, pack your steaks and rations. Trust me.
So, armor. You can craft new sets for you and your Palico—little cat sidekick warrior, if you didn’t know.
Oh, and layered weapons are a thing now. Change your weapon’s look but keep its stats. Like a sneaky facelift for your gear. Just make sure you craft the final weapon in its tree. You get me? Probably not, but it’s there.
Side note, you can switch your handler to this guy Eric after a mission with Lagiacrus. Alma needs a break, maybe, possibly.
And—randomly—there’s this support hunter, Mina. Sword & Shield, if that sweetens the deal.
Photo mode has gotten fancier, so your hunts can look all artsy fartsy. More options for filters and effects. Very Instagrammable, if you ask me.
Before I forget, there’s the Festival of Accord (Flamefete something or other). It’s summer-themed, I think? Running July 23 to August 6. Everyone gets dressed up, there’s special food. The usual festival shtick.
Then comes Arch-Tempered Uth Duna—I swear these names—challenging players from July 30 to August 20. Gotta be rank 50 to attempt. Very exclusive, very VIP.
Now, Monster Hunter’s buddying up with Fender guitars—yes, guitars—starting August 27. Why? Who knows. A bit of music never hurt nobody, right?
And there’s more DLC, blah blah, dance gestures, stickers. If you’re into that jazz, it’s there. Some you pay for, some free. Look into it if you’re keen.
They’ve lined up more updates. Check back end of September for Title Update 3. There’s more to come, for better or worse.
Lastly, something about a PS5 background. Change it if you want. Lots of monster and hunter action there. Cool or whatever.
So, yeah. Monster Hunter Wilds – all this nonsense for you starting June 30. Go check it out… or not. The choice is yours.
