Okay, so let’s talk about this new Mario Kart game — Mario Kart World. It came out not too long ago, right? June 5, for those keeping track. A bunch of people are vibing with it, but some are grumbling about missing flags. Yeah, flags. Who would’ve thought those little icons showing which country folks are racing from would become a big deal? Guess it added this Olympic feel to the game. You see players from Japan, and suddenly it’s like, “Oh man, I’m racing against the big leagues.” But now? Nada. It’s like everyone has the same unmarked kart.
I mean, Mario Kart 8 and its deluxe brother had those flags, and people loved it. Okay, not everyone. Some folks got some unnecessary heat because of where they’re from. Like this one player said they were from Ireland but living in the UK, and poof, the game gives them the Union Jack. Not cool, right? And then there are places not represented at all — someone from a country not even on Nintendo eShop ends up with a U.S. flag. That’s a bit awkward.
So get this: Mario Kart World was supposed to be the big thing for the Nintendo Switch 2, along with that other game, Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour. Never heard of it? It’s more like a starter pack of mini-games for when you finally peel off the plastic on your new console. Not much fuss there, but this new Mario Kart — everyone’s talking about it, despite the flag drama. Kudos to its open-world stuff though! People are digging that.
And then there’s the chatter about Miis. Remember those little guys from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe? Players seem to be missing their customizable avatars zipping around tracks. In the new game, it’s like they’ve vanished into thin digital air.
Huh, maybe it’s because we love a good competition. Or maybe, we just like to show off a little, you know? Win a race and all, but also thinking, “Hey, I beat an entire room of expert Japanese players!” Who knows what’s next for Mario Kart World? Maybe they’ll bring back the flags or Miis. Or toss in something completely unpredictable. Anyway, it’s keeping everyone on their toes!
