Alright, so here’s the deal: there’s this game called Caves of Qud and it’s gonna be exclusive to Nintendo Switch. Kind of cool, right? It’s like this 2D roguelike where the world is super weird. Imagine a place with talking plants and mutants and all sorts of oddities.
What really stood out to me — no idea why — was how over-the-top the simulation is. You can mess with just about anything. Wall in your way? Yeah, sure, you could dig through it, or maybe you just decide to, I don’t know, use some weird gas to disintegrate it? Heck, every wall has its own melting point. Didn’t know walls even had melting points, but here we are.
Also, the creatures aren’t just boring NPCs, they’re like full-on characters. You could, say, mentally become a spider and start weaving webs and snacking on, well, whatever spiders eat. Feels kinda sneaky, but fun?
And factions. Tons of them. Crabs, robots, and something called highly entropic beings. Sounds fancy, right? You can buddy up with these groups, or not, your call.
The setting is just nuts. They’ve spent 15 years creating this bizarre world. It’s kind of like being inside a giant, sprawling, endless story. A story full of little quests and strange NPCs in villages and who knows what else.
Oh, and the music! Over two hours of tunes that’ll probably make you feel like you’re floating through some mystic realm. I’ve always thought music really makes or breaks these kinds of games.
Anyway, it’s hitting the Nintendo eShop around Winter 2025. Can’t wait to see the chaos unfold.
By the way, there’s a trailer and some screenshots floating around out there. If you’re curious, why not take a peek? Or not. Your call.
