Alright, so here we go. Monster Train 2, a game, right? I mean, it’s from Big Fan Games, Devolver Digital, and Shiny Shoe. Sounds like a squad, doesn’t it? Anyway, points at PS5 — that’s where it’s dropping. I tried out Monster Train: First Class before, so diving into this one? Yeah, I was pumped. Like a pre-gym energy drink kind of pumped. Anyway…
So, we’re back after some mayhem in the last game. Heaven and hell are practically frenemies now — no kidding. New clans, cards, and you can tweak the difficulty just because, why not? Makes you wonder how they came up with that stuff, huh?
And then, plot twist: Seraph gets a bit too power-hungry trying to squash demons, and — surprise, surprise — Titans invade heaven. “Let’s team up,” say the angels and demons. Seriously, who writes this stuff? Gotta love it. It’s a nice excuse to mix clans on your journey through, you know, everywhere.
Okay, picture this: if you’ve been on this train before, you already know the ride. But there are five new clans. Five! Each with their baggage of strengths and weaknesses. What a combo. Plus, new cards to jazz things up. Room cards, equipment cards — because regular cards just weren’t enough.
Oh, side note: there’s more story this time. Cutscenes at the Covenant Outpost. You get to see all the characters mingle. And hey, extra Pyre Hearts to unlock. They do wild stuff, like, duplicating cards. Makes me wanna shake my head in disbelief or something.
Now, the run itself, right? It’s all chaos as you try to keep your train’s Pyre from biting the dust. Deploy your team, attack, defend, repeat. Cards have Ember costs, which — funnily enough — I often forget. You’ve gotta strategize a bit. Some units even have cool abilities like Multistrike, which sounds as dramatic as it is.
And spells, oh man. Balance how you use them or else… well, you figure it out eventually. Toss in some equipment cards, and you’ve got a packed toolbox.
Enemies climb up your train, attacking like they’re claiming a high score or something. You’ve got to stop them early or things just go sideways real fast. Luckily, if they reach the Pyre, it retaliates. There’s that.
After battles? Your rewards, including new cards. It’s kind of like picking toppings for a pizza — except, you know, they can either save your bacon or doom it. Upbeat Warbler, for instance. Quick attacks. Total game changer sometimes.
As you roll through the game, you choose paths with different nodes. Merchant of Steel, Merchant of Magic… sounds like shopping, but with epic gear. Health boosts and event nodes are thrown in for good measure.
Trophies, anyone? There’s a whole bunch. Platinum awaited. Like a love letter to completionists.
To sum up — or not, because I keep veering off — Monster Train 2? A wild ride on PS5 worth the time. The whole heaven vs. Titans vs. hell thing, the strategic card play, the train mechanics — strange but oddly satisfying. And endless mode? Let’s just say that’s where things get extreme.
So, are you ready to jump on the Monster Train? What a trip, right? Out now on PS5. Get on board if you dare!
