Most folks who snagged the Nintendo Switch 2 dove headfirst into Mario Kart World. And man, it’s been weeks of non-stop kart madness. But seriously, is your engine still roaring, or have you pumped the brakes for a sec? Now that the “wow” factor might be fading, let’s pop the hood and see what’s up.
So, this is big. First new Mario Kart in, like, forever. Expectations were sky-high. The game’s got 24 karts and bikes. Plenty of new faces, too. But don’t sweat it. Tracks are wide open, with all sorts of routes to keep you from getting smacked by shells.
You can race alone, with pals, or dive into the online chaos. Multiplayer is gonna be the backbone of this game. Had a blast playing online with some buddies — and I actually won some! Total shocker. Smooth gameplay, and the chat’s a hoot (for now, it’s even free). Might wanna start solo, though, just to find your groove.
Good to see the classics like Grand Prix and Time Trials. No 200cc, but even at 150cc, it’s a wild ride. The star, hands down, is the Knockout Tour. Lose, and you’re outta there. It’s tense, but in a fun way. Seriously, blink occasionally. And check those weird default settings.
Oh, and Battle Mode? Kind of hits the brakes — only a few options like Balloon Battle. Reminds me of Mario Kart 8’s early days. I’ve loved Battle since Mario Kart 64, so fingers crossed it gets better.
Fun fact: there’s a tiny map icon. Go figure, right? Missed it at first myself. It lets you roam around the big map. It’s Nintendo’s way of sneaking in something new. Or maybe they’re pushing Knockout Tour harder. Who knows?
Free Roam is the chill factor here. Just cruising for coins and costumes. Night falls, and it changes everything. Wanna hop out and explore sometimes! So the P Switches? Man, they aren’t for relaxing. Some are tough, really push your skills, but need some polish.
What’s next for updates? Maybe track missions better. Too many costumes — sorting that mess would help. Stickers? Feels like they threw those in last minute. Needs more oomph, y’know?
Wouldn’t mind seeing longer P Switch missions, like classic track remixes. And let’s chat tunes. This game’s soundtrack rocks. A custom playlist would be sweet.
Tracks — gotta admit, I’m torn. They’re fun, sure. All connected, but individual tracks feel less distinct. Especially the revamped oldies; love them, but they steal some new-game thunder. Yeah, Choco Mountain, you’re cool, but not for the umpteenth time.
Despite any gripes, Mario Kart World’s a blast, packed with tweaks and surprises — racing as a cow is shockingly fun. Newbies might find it THE game of their generation. Can’t wait to see new stuff get rolled out.
Been on the track a while now. Final thoughts? It’s killer fun and looks awesome. Worth the extra bucks if you grabbed the bundle! Alone, it’s a bit thin — hoping for juicy DLC soon. Still, it’s a game you gotta try; it finishes strong, no doubt about it.
