Okay, so there’s this news blurb about something new coming to Pokémon. And honestly, it’s all a bit of a nostalgia trip. The Pokémon Company International—yeah, the big cheese behind all things Pokémon—says they’ve got this fresh expansion called Wisdom of Sea and Sky. It’s hitting Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, or whatever they’re calling it these days, next week.
Mark your calendar or set a reminder for July 30, 2025. Didn’t know calendars still existed in physical form—well, digital works too! Anyway, you’ll bump into those cute-as-a-button Pokémon from way back in the Johto region. Think Pokémon Gold and Silver days, right? Remember Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile? And don’t forget the big legends, Lugia and Ho-Oh. Those two are back, and I’m already imagining them in action.
This expansion? It’s pretty wild because there are these Pokémon now without energy requirements for attacks. I mean, seriously, how’s that even gonna work? People are gonna be coming up with all sorts of wacky new strategies. Can’t wait to see folks try to figure out weird but epic decks.
Oh, and the game’s Trade feature is getting a bit of an overhaul. So here’s the rundown: there’ll be this Wishlist Feature. It lets players go, “Hey, I want these cards!” Why did it take so long for this to happen? Anyone’s guess. They’ll get to pick up to 20 cards they’re drooling over and even show off three of ‘em right on their profiles.
Then there are these Revisions to the Trade Feature. Kind of a jumble, honestly. Trade tokens? Gone. Bye-bye. No more trading cards for tokens. Instead, there’s this stuff called shinedust. Sounds sparkly, doesn’t it? You can earn it through missions, achievements, blah, blah, blah. If you’ve got duplicate cards, that’ll get you some too. Just like grandma’s cookie jar strategy—hoard till you drop. You’ll swap old trade tokens for pack hourglasses and shinedust in the in-game shop. But here’s the kicker: no more trading cards for tokens after July 30 at 01:00 UTC. So, do your deals before the clock runs out.
By the way, if you didn’t know, Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is right there on the App Store for iOS and Google Play for Android. Just thought I’d mention it in case you’ve been living under a Geodude.
And oh, there’s also a trailer. Probably packed with all those little magical snippets they always throw in. Catchy jingles, maybe? Who knows. Check it out if you’re curious—or easily distracted.
