During the Future Games Show livestream today, this game called Reach popped up. It’s from nDreams Elevation, and wow, it promises VR parkour, fighting huge enemies, and a world that’s more detailed than the mystery meat in my freezer. Why did that detail stick with me? No clue.
So nDreams Elevation, this internal studio dreamt up in 2022, is using Reach as their debut. And they’re going all in, saying it’s the most ambitious thing they’ve done so far. Maybe it is. Or maybe I just haven’t been paying attention to their other stuff.
It’s a solo adventure deal, coming to all VR headsets sometime this year. The game’s about parkour that’s fast and, well, meant for VR. And the combat? It’s got these unique, mythical threats, not your usual VR punching bags.
The trailer, I watched it twice — or was it three times? Anyway, it shows you can jump, climb, and zip-line everywhere. Reminds me of their past stuff like Fracked and that PSVR 2 exclusive, Synapse. Yeah, nDreams seems to like this free-wheeling action vibe.
nDreams Elevation brags that in Reach, players will use different tools and that every move changes the game. They’re spilling more details at the VR Developer Direct show on June 10th. Mark your calendars or don’t, your choice.
And guess who presented Reach? Shuhei Yoshida! If you know gaming, you know Shu. Formerly of Sony Interactive Entertainment — his stamp of approval means something, right? He says he’s thrilled. Naturally. But when Shu’s impressed by the level of immersion, you kinda perk up. He thinks this game is pioneering. Could be, or maybe the VR world just needs a shake-up.
Glenn Brace, head honcho at nDreams Elevation, chimes in saying they wanted players to feel in control and powerful. Sounds cool. They wanna push VR gameplay & make you physically engage. Reach is their pride and joy, I guess.
By the way, if you’re intrigued, put it on your wishlist. It’s up on the Horizon Store for Quest, PlayStation Store for PSVR 2, and Steam for PC VR. Choices galore, just like the cereal aisle.
