Okay, so here’s the deal. Donald, in some kind of defiant rage, just yanked Steam off his computer. I mean, who does that, right? But hey, I guess we all have our days. Anyway — wait, no — starting again. Yesterday, Summer Game Fest kicked off with all the bells and whistles, and today, we were hit with this tsunami of game announcements. I’m talking, like, six hours of it. Crazy, huh?
So, Wholesome Direct was like, “Hey, here’s some instant fun!” and, boom, Instants and Squeakross: Home Squeak Home dropped out of nowhere. I wasn’t expecting that, but who was? Then, tunnel-digging kittens in Everdeep Aurora come July 10. And don’t even get me started on Monument Valley III coming July 25 — been waiting forever!
Oh, and guess what? Finally, Tales of the Shire is allegedly, allegedly releasing on the 29th. And the peculiar Discounty, set for August 21, has me scratching my head. How do these ideas even come up? Anyway, Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar hits on August 27. Oh, and in case you’re keeping tabs, a big Little Kitty, Big City update is on the way, bringing all sorts of cute chaos.
XSEED decided to bring Milano’s Odd Job Collection from Japan — about darn time, right? And Winter Burrow, woodland survival vibes, heads our way in 2025. Meanwhile, Guardian of Nature teased us with its episodic structure; you can snag the first episode on Steam now. No idea why I fixated on that, but it stuck with me.
Switching gears (not literally, though), the Women Led Games Showcase has Re:Fresh coming June 12. And speaking of vibes, Wander Stars launches August 1—gotta love those RPG vibes, am I right? Oh, and Spilled, an oil spill cleanup game? Slightly concerning and intriguing at the same time.
Perfect Tides: Station to Station is dropping next January, sending us back to the nostalgic vibes of early ‘90s PC games. Tavern Tale Stories: Dreamwalker and Out and About are slated for… wait for it… 2026. And what’s Woodo, you ask — a childhood story in wooden dioramas. Can’t make this stuff up.
Latin American Games Showcase? Oh boy. Chunky Jump, horror platformer, Q3 release. Shadow Sacrements? More horror and way more chaos coming Q4. Then, wham! The Requiem of Shadows, mimicking Zelda: Link’s Awakening graphics, and it’s all set for next spring.
Bogdan’s Cross and Taios’ Journey? Q4 2026 looks loaded. The Shadow Syndicate is due sometime next year. Not sure about Castlebound and Changer Seven—no dates, but definitely chaotic energy.
Finally, from Southeast Asian Games land, Giga Bash drops DLC, Upin and Ipin Universe is “coming soon” — troublemaking twins? Count me in. Cat Quest III gets a June 26 update with “Tavern Tales,” and visual novel Until Then scores major points with a year-end promise for more.
Future Games Show? Technical hiccups galore. How 2 Escape: Lost Submarine lands June 26 — need a second person on smart device duty! Call of the Elder Gods was a Switch 2 exclusive shoutout, voice work by Yuri Lowenthal.
Microids teased Agatha Christie: Death on the Nile for September. Constance is just, you know, casually coming to both Switches next year. Then there’s Formula Legends, a twist on F1 vibes.
Last but not least, from the Frosty Games Fest down under, Misc: A Tiny Tale emerges July 22 featuring a tiny robot in a post-human scene. And Microvania, a brief Metroid inspiration, sneaks into the 2025 schedule.
Microsoft and the epically long PC Gaming Show are on deck for more tomorrow. Here’s hoping they bring something unexpected. Who knows what they’ll surprise us with next…
