Okay, so here’s the thing. We’re diving into the whirlwind world of Capcom. Ever heard of them? They’re kinda big in Japan — well, actually, everywhere. I tripped over some numbers, which, honestly, surprised me. Like, they’re reporting a gazillion yen for the three months ending June 30th. Okay, maybe not a gazillion, but something like ¥45.5 billion. That’s $302.2 million if you’re curious. I barely passed math, so yeah, I double-checked that.
Anyway, these numbers are, uh, big. Like 53.7% bigger than last year, thanks mostly to their Digital Contents. That’s games, in plain speak. They mentioned some titles like, let’s see, Devil May Cry 5, Resident Evil Village, something about a Resident Evil 4 Remake, and oh, Street Fighter 6. Apparently, Devil May Cry got a Netflix boost. Who knew people still watch anime on Netflix?
Devil May Cry 5 has zoomed past 10.5 million units sold. Just in the last quarter, it managed 1.7 million. Impressive, right? Resident Evil Village hit 12.2 million — which, let’s be honest, is a number my brain can barely handle before lunch. Resident Evil 4 isn’t far behind with 10.6 million. And then there’s Street Fighter 6, cozy at five million copies. Might have something to do with its shiny release on the Nintendo Switch 2. Or maybe that’s just my speculation.
They pushed out 14.16 million units in total. That’s a 48% hike from last year’s, uh, 9.53 million. My phone can’t even hold that many photos, go figure.
Oh, and remember those numbers? Operating profit — also known as “the money they actually get to keep” — jumped like, 90.8% to ¥24.6 billion. Which is $163.4 million, but who’s counting?
Anyway, I could talk numbers all day… but I won’t. Your eyes probably glazed over ages ago.
