Nvidia’s big boss, Jensen Huang, is stirring things up about this processor in the Nintendo Switch 2. I mean, it’s all set to launch on June 5, and he’s talking like it’s the Mona Lisa of consoles. “Performance, intelligence, and beauty in the palm of your hand,” he says. Really paints a picture, doesn’t it?
So yeah, he’s doing this whole cameo thing in a “special edition” whatever of Nintendo’s “Creator’s Voice” series. It’s funny because these tech specs chat sessions with other folks are kinda rare for Nintendo. Makes you wonder, right?
Oh, right, there’s a video too. I haven’t watched it yet, but you can check it out if you’re into that sort of thing.
Anyway, Huang’s pretty psyched about this new Nvidia chip. He’s going on about three major “breakthroughs”: top-tier graphics for a mobile thingy, hardcore ray-tracing, and some whiz-bang tech for bright and moody visuals. Plus, you can play old games—so yay for nostalgia!
Nintendo already gave a nod to DLSS, and honestly, Nvidia didn’t pull back the curtain fully on specs. They just mentioned these RT cores and tossed out a “10x performance” line compared to the old Switch. Sounds fancy. Oh, and the AI processors that apparently tweak and spruce up gameplay in real-time? Yeah, those too.
Digital Foundry spilled some specs beans in May, like some eight ARM Cortex A78C cores, which I imagine are fancy-sounding. Plus, a GPU from Nvidia’s older Ampere architecture. It includes 12GB of memory. Pretty cool, huh?
Plus, it’s got this 256GB storage thing, but you can throw in a memory card to juice it up to 2TB. That’s a lot of space for Mario, let’s be real.
In the video, there’s a decent chunk dedicated to Nvidia’s role in the first Switch. They even did a whole tribute thing to Satoru Iwata, Nintendo’s fourth prez, who sadly didn’t get to see the original Switch launch.
Price tag? $449.99, and there’s a bundle with Mario Kart World for $499.99—but just for a bit. Pre-orders disappeared fast, though word is, some stores might have extras on launch day.
Oh, and if you want relentless tech updates or deep dives, Tom’s Hardware’s got this Google News thing. Just hit that Follow button if you’re into staying in the loop. Alright, I think that about covers it.
