Whoa, so, like, Saber Interactive is doing this thing, right? Bringing World War Z into VR. Yep, the same one I lost sleep over back in ’19 when it hit PCs and consoles. And now? August 12th, mark your calendars — it’s diving into the VR ocean on Quest and SteamVR. Crazy, huh?
So, they’re saying this new VR gig’s a fresh start. All from scratch for VR, because why do things the easy way, right? They’re calling it a reimagining or whatever, of the OG World War Z game’s intense, heart-pounding action. Not sure how they’ll top that, but here we are.
Here’s the kicker though, it’s gonna be first-person now. Solo mission vibes, unlike the other game that was more — what do you call it? Multiplayer madness? You’ll be jumping from New York to Tokyo and even Marseille. Weird mix, but I dig it.
And hold up — 200 zombies at once? In VR? That’s like, mind-boggling. They’re bringing all the gameplay mechanics from the original and twisting them up for VR, which is kind of nuts if you ask me. Seven characters to choose from, oodles of weapons and perks. Oh, and three difficulty levels thrown in for good measure. Almost makes you feel like you’ve got choices. Sort of.
Remember the film and that book by Max Brooks back in the day? Yeah, World War Z isn’t about your average zombie crawl. These undead are savvy, adapting. Like what? Zombies with strategy? And those special infected ones — they really know how to up the ante.
August 12th can’t come soon enough, huh? If you’re impatient like me, pre-orders are up. Quest 2 and up, and Steam for PC VR. No discounts (boo), just a fancy ‘Golden Skin Pack’ if you jump in early for 20 bucks. It’s shiny, so there’s that.
Alright, that’s the scoop. And now I’m just here wondering if I really need to dodge brain-eaters in VR. Probably.
