Exit the Meme Jacuzzi: The Sims 1 & 2 Re-Releases Are Here and Ready for Download Today

EA and Maxis have pulled out a delightful surprise for fans of classic Sims games as part of the series’ 25th-anniversary celebration. The much-anticipated re-releases of the first two Sims games aren’t just rumors—they’re officially here and available for purchase starting today.

The buzz was that EA would debut these games digitally for PC by the end of January, and, staying true to their word, they launched them right on the dot, January 31, just as the workweek drew to a close. Talk about cutting it close!

The newly released versions are available on PC through EA app, Epic Games Store, and Steam, titled The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection. You can also grab both in a special Sims 25th Birthday Bundle.

In announcing these releases, EA expressed, “To honor our legacy and appreciate the incredible fans who’ve journeyed with us, we’re bringing back two beloved titles. Reintroduce yourself to familiar neighborhoods and favorite characters like the tricky burglar, the whimsical genie, and Sunny the Tragic Clown—the very characters that ignited our community. Rediscover the charm and magic of these classics that have welcomed so many into our world.”

A couple of details worth noting are the price points. The bundle is priced at $39.99, The Sims: Legacy Collection at $19.99, and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection at $29.99. As for expansions, most original packs accompany these re-releases, although the The Sims 2: IKEA Home Stuff pack is unfortunately missing. On the bright side, you’ll still enjoy a couple of holiday packs with that game, along with the H&M Fashion Stuff pack for those who love a good corporate crossover. Additionally, they’re throwing in The Sims 4’s Throwback Fit Kit and Grunge Revival Kit. The first is paired with The Sims and the latter with The Sims 2, which is a pleasant perk for anyone yet to own them.
