Fans of Marvel Rivals Demand Changes to Hulk

Fans of Marvel Rivals are eagerly hoping for an update that tweaks how the Hulk character functions in the game. The Hulk, a beloved figure in the Marvel universe for many years, is naturally part of the Marvel Rivals lineup. Given his massive size and formidable strength, it’s fitting that Hulk takes on the Vanguard role in the game, acting as a Tank. However, unlike most characters, Hulk doesn’t start the game as his usual smashing self. Instead, players begin as Bruce Banner, who carries a gun and a grenade, and only transforms into Hulk once his Ultimate ability is activated. This mechanic echoes Overwatch 2’s D.Va and her mech transformation but kicks off with Bruce Banner, who many players find less effective.

While in Overwatch 2, D.Va starts already in her mech, Hulk players in Marvel Rivals must put up with spawning as a much weaker Bruce Banner. This setup forces players to use the Ult right away, sit through the transformation animation, and repeatedly hear the voice line, “I’m Hulking out!” It’s a redundancy that’s frustrating some players. One Reddit user, AbyssHeart, proposed allowing Bruce to spawn as Hulk, gaining significant support with nearly 7,000 upvotes. Such a change could reduce the early annoyance and offer a smoother initial gameplay experience.

Browsing through the discussions online, many fans appear to be on board with this idea. Some, however, suggest a compromise to maintain Bruce’s interactions with other characters. A potential solution would be starting the match as Bruce but then respawning as Hulk, aiming for the best of both worlds.

As of now, it’s uncertain whether NetEase Games will implement this request into Marvel Rivals. However, there’s anticipation surrounding the upcoming big update expected with the launch of Season 1 in January. This update is rumored to bring not only new content but possibly some balance adjustments and fan-requested changes.
