As the Xbox Series X/S continues to mature, Microsoft’s gaming platform is steadily building a solid collection of titles. Consoles usually hit their stride in the latter part of their lifecycle when developers start focusing exclusively on the latest hardware rather than split their efforts between multiple generations. Although the Xbox Series X/S hasn’t fully reached this stage yet, it’s certainly heading in that direction.

The past few years have been fantastic for gaming, especially in the open-world category. Titles like Elden Ring, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, A Plague Tale: Requiem, and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, released in 2022, delivered a diverse range of experiences. The following year offered its own surprises with games like Dead Space, Street Fighter 6, Hi-Fi Rush, Remnant 2, Forza Motorsport, and Lies of P. So, what are the upcoming Xbox games that have us buzzing with excitement, and which titles are expected to launch in 2024?

Keep in mind, the focus here is on the North American release dates for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One games, including any expansions.

Updated November 27, 2024: As the year draws to a close, there aren’t as many new announcements for 2024. However, we’re excited to see titles like Railroads Online, Road Maintenance Simulator 2 – Winter Services, Hunting Simulator 3, Glitch Hero, Penguin’s Road, Uncle Chop’s Rocket Shop, Love Too Easily, and Beat the Machine: Rebooted on the horizon for Xbox.

No doubt, the headliner for this month is S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, making its debut directly on Game Pass. After navigating a challenging development journey, GSC’s open-world survival horror is now available to explore. Xbox Games Coming Out In December 2024

Marvel Rivals, Indiana Jones, & More

While December is typically a quieter month for video game launches, with most major titles dropping in its first half, there’s still plenty to look forward to. This year, Xbox’s lineup stands out, especially with the release of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Also available on PC, this game is a temporary Xbox console exclusive, giving Game Pass users access to a significant franchise installment that hasn’t seen the spotlight in a long time. Although some have voiced concerns over its first-person perspective, it could turn out to be right up MachineGames’ alley.

December 2024 also promises the arrival of Marvel Rivals, which seems poised to become the next big multiplayer hero shooter. Even if these kinds of games don’t always hit the mark, the Marvel label should draw in a crowd. Additionally, the release of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered is something to get excited about.

Xbox Games Coming Out In January 2025

Tales Of Graces, Sniper Elite, & More

January 2025 may not be brimming with a massive number of new Xbox games, but there’s enough to keep players entertained until February’s heavy hitters arrive. Dynasty Warriors, a series that some love and others shy away from, looks like it’s set to make significant strides forward with Origins, promising better visuals if nothing else. Many are hopeful it will surpass the performance of Dynasty Warriors 9.

JRPG enthusiasts will be thrilled to see Tales of Graces f Remastered finally available on Xbox, offering an acclaimed combat system that stands out in the genre. Synduality: Echo of Ada brings a looter shooter vibe with a unique anime aesthetic, while Sniper Elite: Resistance is poised to maintain the series’ strong reputation.

  • January 16: Morkull Ragast’s Rage (XBX/S)

  • January 30: Sniper Elite: Resistance (XBX/S, XBO)

Xbox Games Coming Out In February 2025

Avowed, Assassin’s Creed, Monster Hunter, Civilization, & More

February 2025 seems set to be a monumental month across all gaming systems. With many publishers rushing to release big titles before the financial year ends in March, February tends to overflow with blockbuster titles. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and Civilization 7 are both launching simultaneously, though they cater to different audiences and demand deep player engagement.

The month will also feature Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Although the road to its release has been far from smooth, there’s hope Ubisoft’s venture into Japan will satisfy fans. The challenge lies in updating and modernizing three rather divisive entries with Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered; if they succeed, Angel of Darkness might finally garner a positive reception.

Obsidian’s RPG, Avowed, is poised as Xbox’s major console exclusive for February 2025. Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii promises a thrillingly wild ride with Sega’s iconic series. Finally, the month wraps up with the anticipation-building release of Monster Hunter Wilds. February looks packed and promises to be incredibly rewarding.

Major Upcoming Xbox Games With Post-February 2025 Dates Or No Release Years

Kingdom Come, Elder Scrolls, & More

The term "coming soon" can vary considerably, spanning from a few months to potentially a few years. Among those eagerly waiting, Beyond Good and Evil 2 and Control 2 are in development with no set timelines for when players can get their hands on them.

Many intriguing games are lined up for the Xbox Series X/S, though details remain sparse for some projects. The Elder Scrolls 6, Kingdom Hearts 4, and Ark 2 are highly coveted but may still be some distance from their eventual release. Even these are just a glimpse of what’s potentially ahead.

  • March 2025: Football Manager 25 (XBX/S)
  • March 4, 2025: Two Point Museum (XBX/S)
  • March 6, 2025: Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remaster (XBX/S, XBO)
  • March 18, 2025: Lost Records: Bloom and Rage Tape 2 (XBX/S)
  • March 21, 2025: Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land (XBX/S, XBO)
  • March 25, 2025: Tales of the Shire: A Lord of The Rings Game (XBX/S)
  • March 27, 2025: Atomfall (XBX/S, XBO)
  • April 17, 2025: Mandragora (XBX/S)
  • April 24, 2025: Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves (XBX/S)

Additional games listed have yet to disclose their release date or year. The roster includes eagerly anticipated titles like the new Elder Scrolls, Control sequels, and Kingdom Hearts 4, promising an exhilarating future on the Xbox platform.

Rumored Xbox Games

Rumors are swirling about potential future projects on Xbox, even though they haven’t been officially confirmed. These are the games that gaming fans are speculating about, including whispers of Gears 6 coming at some point.

Keep in mind, the titles here should all be taken with caution as they remain speculative until official announcements confirm their existence.
