PlayStation Reveals Upcoming Free Online Multiplayer Weekend Dates

PlayStation enthusiasts who haven’t yet subscribed to PlayStation Plus are in for a treat this December. To mark its 30th anniversary, PlayStation is offering a complimentary online multiplayer weekend perfect for all users. All you need is an active internet connection and a PSN account to dive into the console’s multiplayer adventures.

PlayStation Plus, Sony’s subscription service for PS4 and PS5, provides online gaming access. The service, available in different tiers, also lets members enjoy a variety of free games, stream content from the cloud, and even access some PlayStation titles on PC.

In honor of PlayStation’s significant milestone, the brand is launching this free multiplayer weekend from December 6 through December 8. During this period, gamers can play any of their owned titles online for free, provided they have an internet connection and a PlayStation Network account. While this experience offers an inviting glimpse into what the full service offers, note that this initiative is purely focused on online play and doesn’t grant access to the broader library of free games.

Reflecting on PlayStation’s launch back in 1994, there’s plenty for Sony to commemorate. Alongside the free weekend, an eSports tournament is scheduled for the same days. Players will have the opportunity to compete in games like Mortal Kombat 1, Tekken 8, Madden NFL 25, and Guilty Gear Strive, with winners receiving exclusive avatars and in-game items based on the game they choose to enter.

Furthermore, fans of multiplayer action and PlayStation Plus are in for a chance to win a 30-month free subscription. 30 individuals from each participating country, totaling 780 winners, can obtain this fantastic offer. Users must simply register for a PlayStation Plus Premium membership and play something from the Classics Catalog. Existing members are also eligible by playing titles from the same catalog. This sweepstakes is set to run from December 10 through December 23.
